Sebastian Frimmel, geboren am 18. Dezember 1995 in Perchtoldsdorf, Österreich, ist ein erfolgreicher Handballspieler, der als linker Außenspieler spielt. Mit einer Körpergröße von 1,90 m bringt er ideale Voraussetzungen für diese Position mit. Seine Karriere begann er bei der SG Handball West Wien, wo er von 2013 bis 2018 spielte. Bereits in der Saison 2014/15 wurde er als «Newcomer des Jahres» in der Handball Liga Austria (HLA) ausgezeichnet.

2018 wechselte Frimmel in die Schweizer Nationalliga A zu den Kadetten Schaffhausen. Dort gewann er 2019 die Schweizer Meisterschaft und 2021 den Schweizer Pokal. Seit 2021 spielt er für den ungarischen Spitzenclub Pick Szeged. Mit Szeged konnte er 2022 die ungarische Meisterschaft feiern.

Sein Debüt in der österreichischen Nationalmannschaft gab Frimmel am 4. März 2014. Er nahm an mehreren internationalen Turnieren teil, darunter die Europameisterschaften 2018, 2020 und 2022 sowie die Weltmeisterschaften 2019 und 2021. Bei der Weltmeisterschaft 2021 war er mit 31 Toren der zweitbeste Werfer seines Teams. Bei der Europameisterschaft 2022 war er der beste Torschütze Österreichs mit 22 Treffern. Am 14. Januar 2024 bestritt er sein 100. Länderspiel für Österreich.

Frimmel ist für seine Schnelligkeit, Präzision und taktisches Verständnis bekannt und hat sich sowohl auf Vereins- als auch auf internationaler Ebene einen Namen gemacht.
